Australia’s digital and connected health sector is set to benefit after the announcement that Australia’s largest university, Monash University, has signed on as a core partner of ANDHealth.

The partnership will help to strengthen Australia’s position as a global leader in digital health innovation by fostering new technologies that address critical healthcare challenges while driving economic growth through job creation and export opportunities.

Monash University through its internationally known Faculty of Information Technology,  joins a strong network of core partners across the health, research and technology sectors, including Telstra Health, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Planet Innovation, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), Curve Tomorrow, HPM Executive and HLTH Community.

ANDHealth supports more than 1,000 Australian digital and connected healthcare companies, industry participants across Australia and international partners to provide Australia’s only specialised digital and connected health commercialisation support.

Built on a thesis of “harnessing the collective” ANDHealth coalesces the multi-sectoral, multi-disciplinary skillsets of its core partners around Australia’s most promising digital and connected health startups to accelerate commercialisation and growth. In return, core partners are able to work closely with Australia’s highest potential companies, identifying opportunities for partnerships, as well as benefiting from ANDHealth’s industry insights, innovation assessment and selection capabilities and a national and international program of investment readiness and education events.

ANDHealth CEO Bronwyn Le Grice said ANDHealth’s proven expertise in scaling digital health businesses, combined with Monash’s world-class research capabilities, will further bridge the gap between innovation and commercialisation.

“As Australia’s largest university, Monash brings unparalleled expertise and resources to this partnership. Together, we will strengthen the commercialisation pipeline for Australian digital and connected health SMEs, creating jobs, attracting investment and improving patient outcomes,” Ms Le Grice said.

“Researchers and innovators from Monash will enhance their skills required for translation of Monash's cutting-edge research into practical digital health solutions by participating alongside growth stage companies in our education suite, whilst startups will benefit from the significant intellectual and research horsepower of one of Australia’s leading universities.

“This partnership comes off the back of The Royal Melbourne Hospital signing as a core partner and further reinforces a truly connected ecosystem of health providers, researchers, industry and digital health companies,” Ms Le Grice said.

Monash University’s Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Professor Ann Nicholson, said becoming a core partner with ANDHealth will enhance Australia’s position as a digital and connected health leader.

“This partnership underscores Monash’s commitment to advancing healthcare innovation. By collaborating with ANDHealth, we will empower researchers and entrepreneurs to bring life-changing digital health technologies from the lab to patients faster than ever before,” Professor Nicholson said.

“The unique insights that ANDHealth provides means there will be stronger industry collaboration and clearer commercialisation pathways, which will support Australian digital health solutions to access global markets and contribute to improving health outcomes.”
